Choosing a Medallion

Consider four factors when selecting the appropriate ceiling medallion.

Fan or Fixture Size

• Medallions should be smaller or larger than the diameter of your

ceiling fan or lighting fixture. They should not be the same size.

Ceiling Height

• Higher ceilings can accommodate larger medallions.

• 28" or larger medallions complement a two-story foyer.

Room Size

• Large rooms accommodate large medallions.

• For a typical dining room with an 8' to 9' ceiling,

an 18" to 26" diameter medallion works well.

Material

• Polyurethane medallions resemble traditional plaster medallions.

• Molded plastic medallions are lightweight and can

be simply installed with adhesive.
